Historically, overtime pay has been an important factor in helping working families move into the middle class. But the overtime salary threshold hasn’t received an update in over 40 years. The Restoring Overtime Pay Act would increase the threshold from $23,660 to $51,064–and automatically update the level going forward. The change would benefit 13.5 million working people–4.6 million workers who would be newly eligible to receive overtime pay and 8.9 million more who would receive strengthened overtime protections.
